What Do Xemplars Do?
The Xemplar Club is dedicated to improving our community, assisting those in need, and fostering strong American citizenship. Our members actively initiate and support programs tailored to address local challenges, whether raising funds for the homeless, building and staffing a sheltered workshop for individuals with disabilities, or supporting youth-focused initiatives. Through service and action, we strive to make a lasting impact in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
Why Join Xemplar?
Joining the Xemplar Club is an opportunity to contribute to a better community while also fostering personal growth. Membership helps individuals develop leadership, networking, and organizational skills beneficial in both professional and personal life. More importantly, it provides a meaningful way to give back—whether comforting an abused child, leading a crime prevention initiative, or participating in a community clean-up. Xemplars work on a variety of public-spirited projects that create a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
"Xemplars lead through service, building a stronger community one act of kindness at a time."

Our History: Established Roots, New Vision
Although officially formed in 2010, our legacy dates back to 1924 when 73 members of a local chapter of a national service organization came together to serve the community. In January 2010, our members chose to establish an independent organization better aligned with our community’s needs—thus, the Xemplar Club of Farmington & Farmington Hills was born. Shortly after, we created the Xemplar Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity dedicated to supporting our philanthropic initiatives. Over the years, our programs and projects have positively impacted countless individuals, reinforcing our commitment to service and civic engagement.
Our Organization
The Xemplar Club meets every Wednesday during the Farmington Public Schools’ academic year, from early September to mid-June, at Cowley’s Pub in downtown Farmington. Each meeting offers a mix of fellowship, fun, and education, featuring a different guest speaker each week.
Beyond our regular meetings, we host special events for our members, including a holiday grab bag luncheon, theatre nights at the Farmington Players Barn, a group outing to a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park, our renowned Steakout! BBQ, and a Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner.
We are deeply committed to serving families, seniors, and youth, especially those considered at-risk. One of our primary fundraising events, the Xemplar Signature Golf Classic, takes place annually in June at the Farmington Hills Golf Club. The funds raised support numerous charitable organizations in our community. On Memorial Day, we are honored to organize the downtown Farmington parade to pay tribute to our fallen heroes and military service members. We also distribute over 4,000 American flags to children along the parade route, creating a memorable experience for both veterans and young citizens.
Our club is a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life, including doctors, judges, business owners, retirees, public safety officials, and city and school representatives. We welcome new members and encourage anyone interested in service and fellowship to join what we believe is the finest service organization in Michigan—the Xemplar Club.
Our Volunteers & Community Events
The Xemplar Club is a 100% volunteer-driven organization that welcomes both men and women eager to make a difference, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong friendships. Every dollar raised goes directly toward supporting local programs.
We also invite the public to participate in our community events, such as our annual Euchre Night in March at the Costick Activities Center and the Xemplar Signature Golf Classic on the last Wednesday of June at the Farmington Hills Golf Club.
